Welcome to the UK Women's Disc Golf Association
Where you can realise your potential and your achievements are celebrated

Disc Golf is one of the best lifetime fitness activities you could find to do. It is easy to learn, a healthy activity, accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels and has a low cost entry level to play. If you can throw and like to have fun in the great outdoors, you can play disc golf.
Join us on our continued groundbreaking journey to provide a platform for the sustainable growth of disc golf for all women in the UK
The Story
Although Disc Golf has been around since the early 70's, this activity has been low on the radar for females in the UK. Like a lot of minority activities and sports, unless you know it exists you are unaware of the benefits it can bring. So few women were known to be playing disc golf and so the UKWDGA was formed to build upon the successes of the first ever UK Women's Disc Golf Bag Tag League (known to us now as the Original Bag Tag League), a play anywhere any time League, and the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) Women's Global Events (WGE), held in England and Scotland in 2021.
The work undertaken by Founder members, Carole Findlay and Zoë Woodward increased awareness and demonstrated there was a need for a female focused community of disc golfers to help increase participation and raise awareness of the physical and mental health benefits of this low impact, get out in nature activity.
The UK Women's Disc Golf Association (UKWDGA) was formed in 2021 with the idea of establishing a strong female community with the opportunity to make a difference on how disc golf evolved, with women's needs in mind. Run by women for women. The objectives of the UKWDGA is to provide a platform for the sustainable growth of disc golf for all UK Nations and beyond, by raising awareness through promotional campaigns, applying for funding opportunities and sponsorship to further the growth and support for all female players through a variety of events.

**A Message from the UKWDGA Board** After a lot of thought and many heartfelt conversations, we – Zoë (Chair), Carole (Secretary), and Elva (Treasurer) – have decided to step down from our roles on the UKWDGA board at the end of 2025. When we founded the UKWDGA, we did so with a clear vision: to create space, support, and opportunity for women and girls in disc golf across the UK. We’ve worked hard to build that community, develop events, raise visibility, and represent women in the sport. We’re incredibly proud of what we've achieved. But it's also been an uphill journey. For the past four years, we've poured in time, energy, and care – often navigating barriers that have made progress difficult and, at times, exhausting. We’ve done our best to keep going, but the truth is that our energy is now depleted. This isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. We’ve spent months reflecting on how to move forward, but we’ve come to the conclusion that it’s time to step away. What started with joy and drive has become unsustainable for us, and we owe it to ourselves—and to the organisation—to acknowledge that. We still believe the UKWDGA has huge potential. But to keep going, it needs fresh voices, new ideas, and a team willing to take it forward. If no one comes forward to take over the running of the organisation, the UKWDGA will not continue beyond the end of this year. We’re giving notice now so there’s time to gather interest, plan a smooth transition, and ensure the future of the organisation if others wish to carry it on. We're happy to offer support during this handover period if needed. If you’re passionate about the future of women’s disc golf and want to be part of shaping what comes next, please get in touch. We’d love to hear from you. Thank you to everyone who’s supported us along the way – it's meant so much. With gratitude, Zoë (Chair), Carole (Secretary), and Elva (Treasurer) UKWDGA Board
